Chelan Kozak was first named as a short list of member of the Canadian Equestrian team at age 23 in 1992. Since that time she has ridden numerous horses at the CCI3* level, and has ridden two horses CCI4*. Most recently qualifying for the 2010 WEGs for Canada by galloping around clear XC at Rolex Kentucky CCI4*
Chelan has represented Canada at the Olympics, and at the World Equestrian Games.
In 1996, she passed her level III Canadian Eventing coaching exam. Chelan achieved the USEA ICP level IV coaching designation in 2015 the US. She has coached to CCI3*.
Chelan has spent a number of years educating herself learning from other top level coaches.
She has trained under Jack LeGoff, Jimmy Wofford, Mike Plumb, and David O'Connor, Clayton Fredericks and Karen O'Connor.
She has also attended numerous clinics as a rider, including with William Fox-Pitt. Continuing education is a passion of Chelan's.
She teaches with a no nonsense approach, and set the bar high. But she also likes to emphasize having a good time. Her combination of riding skills and coaching skills make her a much sought after clinician, horse trainer, and rider.
2019 found Chelan fully recovered from a riding accident in the autumn of 2018. She looks forward to developing some young horses, and continuing her coaching career in the south Langley area.
2020 is a strange time with COVID-19. Chelan is thrilled to be at a lovely facility Bekevar Farm to train horses and riders, allowing for some normalcy.
